Frank and Cathy Whitaker are a normal 1950's middle class couple living in Connecticut. Everything is going fine, until Cathy discovers her husband is having a homosexual affair. She then begins to fall in love with their African American gardener and has to cope with her husband's issues and society's view on interracial couples.
